Curriculum
The curriculum progresses from fundamentals to a portfolio-ready capstone and professional assessment.
01Structural Mechanics & RC Fundamentals+
- Build physical intuition for bending moment, sagging, hogging and flexural behaviour in simple and continuous members.
- Understand shear force, the load-shear-moment relationship and how to interpret BMD and SFD results.
- Understand axial tension, compression, column behaviour, torsion and buckling in reinforced-concrete systems.
- Apply IS 456 limit-state principles for collapse, serviceability, material behaviour, durability and concrete cover.
- Identify and apply dead, imposed, wind, snow, special and accidental loads under the IS 875 framework.
- Understand seismic zones, importance factor and response-reduction factor under IS 1893.
- Understand the ductile structural-behaviour philosophy required by IS 13920.
02G+1 Villa Design in ETABS+
- Set project units, grids, storeys, materials and member sections, then develop the structural frame from architectural drawings.
- Maintain correct analytical connectivity, element alignment and modelling discipline throughout the ETABS model.
- Calculate and apply self-weight, finishes, wall loads and occupancy-based imposed loads under IS 875 Parts 1 and 2.
- Create gravity load patterns and combinations, run static analysis and resolve warnings or instability messages.
- Review deformed shapes, reactions, member-force trends and deflection to confirm reasonable structural behaviour.
- Review beam flexure and shear, column axial and biaxial behaviour, minimum eccentricity and reinforcement demand under IS 456.
- Design two-way slabs with reference to IS 456 Annex D and verify selected results using hand or Excel checks.
- Prepare a design summary, reinforcement communication and selected-member Bar Bending Schedule under IS 2502.
